Put Your Faith in the Word First
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. — JAMES 5:14
The same day that I prayed for that woman, about the middle of the afternoon, there was another knock on my door. I went to the door and there stood that “cotton-headed” boy. He said, “Momma wants you to come and pray for her.”
I said, “I thought she got healed this morning.”
He said, “Well, she did, but she’s hurting worse now.”
I went back down to her house and prayed another hour and a half until I prayed the power down. I tried to get by just by anointing her with oil and laying hands on her, praying the prayer of faith, but she didn’t believe. Her faith wasn’t in God’s Word. It was in the power. Well, the power of God certainly has something to do with healing, but a person’s faith must be in the Word first.
This “praying the power down” for Momma went on and on—for four years! At least once a week for four years, I went to her home and prayed for her. But she never got any lasting results.
Confession: When I put my faith in the Word of God first, I will see results. I will be healed!
