It’s that time again. When January 1 rolls around, many people make New Year’s resolutions. They resolve to change habits, accomplish personal goals, or establish new priorities. Some achieve their resolutions; many don’t.

The start of every year begins with potential. It’s an opportunity to evaluate your priorities and reflect on what is important to you.

You may have goals or dreams you are determined to get done in 2020. And you should. Nothing is wrong with wanting to change or better yourself. However, Jesus told us what believers should focus on every day of every year. “Make your top priority God’s kingdom and his way of life, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matt. 6:33 NTE).

Above everything else, God should be your primary focus. Giving Him priority in your life is a necessary step for real success. It’s easy to get distracted. Things like job promotions, business opportunities, relationships, or everyday concerns can overshadow the One Who should have first place in your life. You must be determined that nothing will affect your relationship with God or take His place.

The more time you spend delighting yourself in the Lord, the better your relationship will be. And as scripture promises, God will work on your behalf and give you whatever you need. He will also help you overcome seemingly impossible obstacles.

Regardless of what 2019 was like, 2020 can be a great year by making God your number one priority. Start following a scripture reading plan, so you read the Bible from cover to cover. Pray every morning before you do anything else. Make living a godly lifestyle your priority, and let God help you achieve the success He wants you to have.

This issue of The Word of Faith will help you kick-start 2020. It will inspire you to do great things in the coming months. We want you to experience everything God has for you this year!
