The Power of a Right Confession

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. — ROMANS 10:10

Notice this scripture says that we are not only to believe with our heart, but we are also to confess with our mouth. It says that confession brings about salvation.

Actually, all that we receive from God is received that way—through faith. It’s always with the heart that we believe and with the mouth that we confess. With the heart we believe for healing, and with the mouth confession is made unto healing. Everything we receive from God comes this way.

Now the same thought appears in another text that we’ve looked at: “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith” (Mark 11:23). Both Romans 10:10 and Mark 11:23 talk about believing in your heart and saying with your mouth.

Then Romans 10:8 says, “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach.” You see, the word of faith must be in your mouth and in your heart for it to work for you. That’s the thing that defeats many people. They believe God’s Word in their heart, but their mouth is always talking something else.

Set a watch on your mouth. See to it that it only speaks what is in line with the Word of God. Stop saying what doesn’t line up with God’s Word. If you keep saying anything long enough, those words will eventually register on your heart. And when they do, they’ll control your life.

Confession: I set a watch on my mouth. I only speak what I believe in my heart that lines up with God’s Word. I believe that I am healed. I believe that I am well. I believe it in my heart and I speak it out of my mouth.
