“MY DAD KICKED me out for being a pain,” Amanda began. “What will he do when he finds out I am pregnant? He’s a stern giant of a man. I’m afraid.”

“My dear, God’s love takes away fear,” answered Loana. “When people hear the Gospel, and accept Jesus into their hearts, God pours so much love into them that fear does not have to dominate them anymore.”

The next morning, at breakfast, Amanda said to Loana, “I don’t want to steal or be a pain anymore. I want to go back home and tell Dad how sorry I am for all the pain I’ve caused him and our family. And I want Jesus in my heart right now. I see you talk to God like He’s right next to you. I want a relationship like that, one that never breaks up. Is that possible?”

“Yes, my dear,” replied Loana.

“Do I need to kneel?”

“You can if you want to. Hold my hand, let’s talk to Jesus.”

That evening, Amanda went back home with Loana right beside her. Amanda pushed the doorbell lightly. She had expected to feel dread at the prospect of seeing her dad, but she was not afraid. God’s love was bubbling inside her.

When the door opened, Amanda came face-to-face with her father for the first time in months. His 6’4” frame filled the doorway. His expressionless face gave away nothing as he looked from his clearly pregnant daughter to the older woman beside her.

Amanda searched for words to say but none came. She stepped forward and threw her arms around her father. Instantly, his large arms circled her as he bent low to return her embrace. She sobbed into his chest, telling him how sorry she was.

It felt like hours had passed when he finally muttered, “Oh girl, how I’ve missed you!”
