You can distinguish your spirit from your soul and become sensitive to God’s leading in your spirit by renewing your mind—by continually feeding it with God’s Word (Rom. 12:2).

If you’re always feeding your mind negative thoughts from worldly movies, television, or radio—or even from the wrong words of others around you—you can expect your mind to think wrong thoughts and your spirit to become dull and weak.

But you can change your “diet”! You can feed your mind the truth of God’s Word by reading it; thinking about it; and talking about it often. As you do this on a continual basis, your spirit will grow stronger, you’ll become more and more sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading, and you’ll walk out the plan of God and enjoy His highest and best blessings for your life!

Whether you want to overcome temptation, receive guidance, or receive some other particular blessing, following the Word and the leading of the Holy Spirit is the key to victory in every area of life.
