Have you noticed how crowded the shopping malls are with people buying gifts for family and friends? Hopefully, your shopping is done. God has gifts He’s already given. Have you
unwrapped yours?

The reason we give gifts as we celebrate Christmas is to remember when God gave His greatest Gift to mankind. Over 2,000 years ago, God gave the world Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son. But that’s not all He gave.

God gave us many gifts, but to fully receive everything He has given us, we must first receive Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior.

According to John 14:16, we have been given the Gift of the Holy Spirit, and we’ve been given all spiritual blessings (Eph. 1:3).
Just as salvation is a free gift in that we did nothing to deserve it, these additional spiritual blessings are free for the taking.

Healing is another gift God has given. We were healed by the stripes Jesus bore for us (1 Peter 2:24). God also gave us the gift of peace. John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” After these gifts were given, experiencing them is simply a matter of believing and receiving.

Another gift is God’s gift of love—His love. Nothing can separate us from God’s love (Rom. 8:35–39). We have also been given the gift of eternal life. After the physical body passes away, those who have made Jesus their Lord will live with Him forevermore.

Too often, we leave God’s gifts unopened. Unless we unwrap them, or put them into practice and experience them for ourselves, they will not be of any benefit to us.

Christmastime is the season for opening gifts. If we’re not already doing so, let’s begin “unwrapping” the gifts God gave us and start enjoying them!
