The Scottish author and Bible scholar William Barclay said, “Christianity is a community. The individual Christian finds his true place only when he is built into the edifice. Solitary religion or religion by itself is ruled out as an impossibility.”
Consider this question: Can one person defend a country by himself? No. To be effective, we have to stand together as an army and defend the country. We can’t do it alone, but together as the U.S. military, we can. A Christian cannot stand against Satan by himself. He has to be connected to Jesus Christ and the Church.
The Church is built on the rock, Jesus Christ. And despite ridicule, heresies, schisms, and division, the Church is alive and well. Matthew 16:18 says that “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” God is still building the Church with the power and the anointing of the Holy Spirit guiding and leading us. The Church will stay here until Jesus Christ splits the clouds of glory and takes us to Him.
As Christians, we are not designed to stand alone. We are built to be connected with our local congregation of believers, with Jesus as the head. As long as we’re connected to each other and Jesus is our Rock and foundation, we cannot be defeated.
PS. If you do not have a church home, refer to the Rhema Ministerial Association International Church Guide in this issue to find a church in your area pastored by a Rhema graduate.
