Hitch your wagon to a star. That was the theme of my high school commencement speaker’s address. The word wagon stands for life, and the phrase generally means setting high goals and expectations in life, or aiming as high as the stars. It has been said that when you reach for the stars, you may not quite get one, but you won’t come up with a handful of mud either. The highest goal you can aim for is to hitch (“hook, link, connect”) your life to God. If you want to ensure your success in accomplishing great things for God and fulfilling your destiny, link your life to three things.

Number one: the promises of God. Whatever God has promised in His Word, He will bring it to pass in the life of the believer. Psalm 145:13 says, “The Lord is faithful to all his promises” (NIV 1984). Second Corinthians 1:20 tells us, “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ” (NIV 1984). Focus your heart and mind on God’s promises rather than on problems. Possess what He has promised you.

Number two: God’s possibilities. Luke 18:27 says, “What is impossible with men is possible with God” (NIV 1984). Seeing your problems as possibilities will change how you think, talk, and act. When you focus on what God can do, you are no longer limited by the natural. Believe that God will do the impossible. With your eyes on His possibilities, there is no limit to where you can go, what you can do, or what you can accomplish.

Number three: the power of God. Become all that God has destined you to be. Go where God says you can go and accomplish all that He says you can accomplish. You can do all these things because God’s power is available to you. Hook up with His power and accomplish the impossible!
