Act on What the Word Says
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. — JAMES 1:22
There are a number of different methods whereby healing can be obtained through the Word of God. One way is to simply know what the Word of God says for yourself and then act on it. You don’t have to pray. You don’t have to get anyone else to pray. Simply act on what the Word says: “. . . by whose stripes ye were healed” (1 Peter 2:24).
In February 1955, I held a meeting for a pastor. I stayed in the parsonage with him and his wife. One night, I was awakened at 1:30 with alarming symptoms in my body. The devil said to me, “Now this is one time you’re not going to be healed.”
You know, the devil will try every way in the world that he can to talk you out of healing. He’ll try every way he can to rob you of any of the blessings of God.
Do you know what I did when the devil said that to me? I pulled the covers over my head and started laughing. I didn’t feel like laughing. There is such a thing as laughing in the Spirit. It’s easy to laugh when you’re laughing in the Spirit. But I wasn’t laughing in the Spirit. I was laughing in the flesh. I was making myself do it; I didn’t feel like laughing.
Confession: I am a doer of the Word. I act on what the Word says whether I feel like it or not. I receive what the Word says belongs to me. I receive health and healing./em>
