His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. — JOHN 2:5

In John chapter 2, we see the account of Jesus attending the wedding in Cana with his mother. His mother told Him that they had run out of wine. Jesus said to the servants, “. . . Fill the waterpots with water. . . .” (John 2:7).

Let’s continue reading in John.

JOHN 2:7–10
7 . . . And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

The water became wine. Now what if the servants had stood there and said, “We’re going to stand right here and wait until the water becomes wine and then we’ll start filling these pots”? Nothing would have happened.

You see, that’s the thing that defeats many Christians. They want to stand around and wait until they can see it done—until they have the sense evidence that things have happened. In the case of healing, they want to start believing when all the symptoms have disappeared. No, you must believe ahead of time what God says. Act on God’s Word, and then what He has said will become a reality. Because the servants acted on the words of Jesus, a miracle was wrought.

Confession: I believe what God says before I ever see anything in the natural. I act on God’s Word, and as I do, I see miracles wrought in my life.
